Benedict Cumberbatch Flattered By Racy ‘Sherlock’ Fanfic

British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is so hot right now. He is almost literally in everything, including last year’s awards-season favorites “War Horse” and “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” the hit BBC/PBS revival of “Sherlock” and two highly anticipated future blockbusters “Star Trek 2” and “The Hobbit.”

Cumberbatch fans should be excited to see him reprise his role as the quirky and slightly sociopathic Sherlock Holmes when the second season premieres this Sunday (May 6) on PBS’s Masterpiece. MTV News recently caught up with the very busy and talented actor, who attributes the show’s success to its “extraordinary” and “very intelligent, very loyal” fans and promised that they won’t be disappointed with the action that unfolds in the second season.

  1. Benedict Cumberbatch is terrific in the pbs show Sherlock (as well as Tinker, Tailor, Soldier,Spy and War Horse). His obvious intelligence comes through in all of his roles and as said by Irene in “Sherlock”…smart is the new sexy. (Thank goodness.) It is no wonder, therefore, that he has become such a popular subject for discussion and creative “artistry?” on Tumbler. My 17 yr. old daughter, herself, has succumbed to his charming persona and is completely infatuated with him. Recently I read the now infamous book trilogy FIFTY SHADES OF GREY. I think that if the books are somehow made into movies, (Boy, there would have to be alot of edittng to get that down to an “R”.)then Mr. Cumberbatch would be perfect for the lead role of Christian Grey. Although I know there is an age disparity (since Grey is supposed to be about 28 and Mr. Cumberbatch is approximately 35), I believe that his “baby face” and innate charisma would make Mr. Cumberbatch a perfect match for the role. He already possesses the dark copper hair and the icy stare, as well as the intriguing intelligence behind his boyish good looks. I believe that such a role would catapult his career here in the U.S. by giving him the appeal equal to Mickey Rourke in “9 1/2 Weeks.”Anyway, that is my opinion. (Skewed as it may be.) Best wishes for your cont’d success, Mr. Cumberbatch.
