The two actors are in talks for the Studiocanal financed feature, which centers on a reporter (Gyllenhaal) that travels to Brazil to visit a wealthy friend (Cumberbatch), who asks for help in faking his death.

Gyllenhaal and Cumberbatch are both set to produce via their banners, Nine Stories Productions and Sunny March, respectively. Adam Ackland and Riva Marker will also produce.
Studiocanal is planning to present the project to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival, where Gyllenhaal’s most recent feature, Bong Joon-ho’s Okja, is premiering.
Cumberbatch and Gyllenhaal are two of Hollywood’s busiest stars with a wide variety of projects in various states of production.
Cumberbatch is set for The Weinstein Company’s The Current War, where he will play Thomas Edison opposite Nicholas Hoult’s Nikola Tesla.
He will also reprise his Marvel alter-ego, Dr. Strange, in the next Avengers movie, Infinity War, and is set to voice the Grinch in Illumination’s take on the Dr. Seuss Christmas tale. He is repped by UTA, the U.K.’s Conway van Gelder Grant and Sloane Offer.
Gyllenhaal, who just finished his Broadway role in Sunday in the Park with George, will be seen in Paul Dano’s directorial debut Wildlife. He is repped by WME and Bloom Hergott.
